Being a Nigerian in the ‘40s wasn’t a crime.
Being a Nigerian in the ‘50s wasn’t a hardship.
Everything changed when men decided they wanted more.
“more! give us more!” they cried.
They stretched their hands and grabbed, they looted and
pillaged.
They separated families, killed dreams, and snuffed out
candles.
With their backs bent and their legs shaking in exhaustion,
My fathers dug out more.
More of their sweat, more of their blood.
Their servitude was their pension.
They hoped, and hoped, and hoped.
And their shoulders continued to hunch over, their hunch
backs worse than that of Quasimodo.
Their payment was #2000 on election day, and a couple of
shootings to sweeten the deal.
Being a Nigerian now
#LekkiMassacre #EndPoliceBrutality #EndBadGovernance
#SaveNigeria
Currently a shame to the human race.
ReplyDeleteA big one. But we will keep up the energy. Things have got to change, you know!
