"You saw wrong. You oughta stop spying on people, Diana."
"You're just saying that to stop me from ratting you out. It won't work, not this time. I know whom I saw and I'm going to tell mom."
"If you do that, I'm going to make sure you never breathe clean air again." Steel tone wrapped in silk.
"You're one of them now?! How could you do that to us, to Mom?! What is wrong with you?" Growing hysteria, fists pounding against flesh.
"I did it for us! We need the protection, and the money too! Ever since dad died----"
"Don't you dare! You have no right to use him as an excuse. You've always wanted it. I heard you the night they shot Whyte. You said you were gonna get your revenge. You're gonna get killed, Frankie!"
"Shut it, Diana!" Flushed skin, bulging veins. "You know nothing about this life, you don't know what it feels like to be helpless, to have your choices taken from you!" Sneering, disdain.
"What? What are you talking about?" Confusion, squished brows. "We both know nothing of this life! Gosh, I know you're trying to adjust, but you're not Whyte!" Emphasis.
"What did you say, Diana? I dare you to repeat that statement, Di." Soft, liquid tones. Danger lurking around the corner.
A step backwards, and another, and another, and another, and another. She stops, wipes her hands on her skirt, licks her lips.
"You're my brother, and I love you. I'm sorry that Whyte was killed, I'm sorry dad died, but I'm not going to let you cause mom more heartache." Running, on stilts for shoes.
"Diana!" He hefts the statuette, he doesn't know his own strength. A thud, a sickening crunch, and the unmistakable sound of body hitting glass.
Mom comes home to find him like that, covered in blood and glass.
The End.
Guys! I have missed y'all. I have missed crafting these beautiful pieces. I am taking a short course on how to write dialogue, because truth be told, writing dialogue scares me. Shitless. Very. Much. So.
Anyhow, this is like a lesson on what I have learnt from the course so far: hidden details, plot backstory, and conflict.
How did I do?
Did you like this?
Would you want to read the entire story?
Do let me know what you think.
Gracias!
